September Newsletter

From The Director,

I would like to send a warm welcome back to everyone returning for the new school year, and a special welcome to the new families who recently joined the school.  We look forward to a wonderful school year.  The Summer Program was amazing; we all had a great time!  Thank you all for attending the picnic, it was great to see everyone!

Open House is scheduled for Thursday, September 17th, at 6:30 pm, for Miss Monica’s Preschool class and Miss Dorina’s Toddler class.  Open House for Miss Delmy’s Kindergarten class and Miss Melissa’s Pre-K class will be on Wednesday, September 16th, at 6: 30.  Open House will take place on the playground, where you will get general information and expectations for the year; then you will be allowed to walk through your child’s classroom with your teacher.  Open House is for parents only, no children please.

Classes start at 9 am.  Please make sure you have your child at school no later than 9.  Late arrivals cause interruption for the children who are already in class.  If you come after 9, and you are in the Preschool, Pre-K, or the Kindergarten class, please go to the gate and drop your child from inside the playground.  The Toddler class may still be dropped off at their front door.  Please be patient for the teachers to open the door, as they are already busy working with children.

Dear Parents,

Hi and welcome to the preschool class! I look forward to getting to know your families and working with your children.

This school year we will be working a lot on our social/emotional skills as well as our overall classroom behavior and manners. Each Montessori classroom is set up for the children to be independent. They will get a lot of ‘freedom with responsibility’ and learn about self-control.

While academics are incredibly important, we really zone in on the basics at the beginning of the school year to set the children up for the most success. We will be learning; table manners for eating and doing activities, properly washing and drying hands, “proper” eating habits, social skills and graces, plus SO much more.

I have worked with toddlers and families very closely over the years and have gained a lot of perspective once becoming a mother. Your support to your children’s well-being and our Montessori family here at MSC is seen and appreciated!

Here’s to a great school year!

-Miss. Monica

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the new school year everyone! A special welcome to all of our new friends joining our new class! I am very excited to work with your children this year and help them in any way I can.

The children are already showing great interest in the new activities that have been prepared for them. During the first few weeks, we will focus on getting familiar with the new environment, routine, and rules.

In the area of Language, we will be working on our sound and letter recognition. In math, we are learning how to relate quantities to numbers 1-10. For Sensorial, we will be exploring colors and reinforcing our senses. Practical Life and Art are a big part of our daily routine, and the children enjoy each project. The Special Unit for this month is Physical Science.

The children will also learn basic “Sign Language” throughout the year. We do share every Friday, and I will send home reminders of what is appropriate for share time. I like to encourage the children to drink lots of water throughout the day, please send a water bottle each day. I ask that you bring a toothbrush as the children will practice brushing their teeth after meals, we will provide fluoride free toothpaste. A classroom wish list will be attached to the newsletter if you wish to help us keep our classroom supplied. I look forward to seeing everyone at Open House, September 16th 6:30 pm this year!

Thank you,

Miss Melissa
